TUGAS 1 CONDITIONAL SENTENCE


CONDITIONAL SENTENCE

Conditional Sentence is a phrase used to express something that might happen or might not happen as expected. Sentence modality consists of two parts, the man clause (main clause) and if clause (clause). In the if clause contains conditions that must be met in order for the state as contained in the main clause can be realized. Therefore, the conditional sentences is called a conditional sentence. Conditional Sentences or sentence modality consists of two types of real conditional (real) and the unreal / Contrary to fact (not real).

Type 1
Function    : This sentence reveals events that are expected to occur in the future and are likely to occur.       
                   (probable condition)
Example    :  If I have time, Iwill take a long vacation next week.
Fact          :  I don't have time 
Pattern      : V1+have
Tense        : Future Tense

Type 2
Function    :  It states that the event is expected to occur today but it did not happen. (Improbable condition)
Example    :  If I were king, Iwould tell my citizenry for obidient anyway.
Fact          :  I'm not king.
Pattern      :  V3+were
Tense        :  Present Simple

Type 3
Function    :  It states that the event is expected to occur in the past, but it did not happen. (impossible   
                   condition)
Example    :  If we received some money, we would have gone to Paris.
Fact          : We didn't received money 
Pattern      :  V3+had
Tense        :  Past Perfect Tense
